Cold Spell

It's been an interesting winter in the Colorado Rockies. We've had lots of snow and lots of cold weather. The storm that hit the midwest left nothing but cold temperatures in the mountains. For more than two days, the temperature didn't get above zero. When I went to work last Wednesday, the temperature was minus 27 degrees... pretty chilly. Keep in mind, I work at a ski area, riding chairlifts and shoveling snow.

It had also been a couple weeks since we got much snow, but that ended spectacularly on Friday. It started snowing in the mountains Thursday evening and snowed hard on and off until this morning. Loveland got 29 inches of snow in the last four days. Silver Plume got a nice amount of snow, too, over a foot at the cabin. I'm working on building a snowboarding jump behind the cabin, so the extra snow is great.

It's cold again in the mountains, highs around zero today and tomorrow. That's not too bad, though, compared to minus 27!
